   Optical Information Science and Engineering has its roots in Optical Information Science and Technology major. Focusing on the need of expertise in the newly-emerging native photovoltaic industry of luminescence, display, lighting, optical information, optical detection and utilization of solar energy, and depending on Optic Engineering Key First Level Discipline and Signal and Information Processing National Key Discipline, this program aimed to education high level students who possess strong practical ability, expertise adaptation in photo electricity industry.
    In addition to studying Math and Physics basic courses, Electronics and Computer Technology, students also need to learn Electrodynamics, Applied Optics, Physical Optics, Optoelectronics, Laser Principle, Photoelectric Detection Technology, Optical Communication Technology, Solar Cells, other professional courses, and basic physics experiment, system experiments in modern physics and optical information science and engineering experiment. With the help of an excellent staff and national level physics education demonstration center, professional labs and Luminescence and optical information education department key lab, students will lay strong cornerstones for their future career.
    Every year, more than 60% undergraduates will study abroad or pursue Master’s Degree in Beijing Jiaotong University, China Academy of Sciences, Qinghua University, Peking University and other famous research institutes. Other graduates mainly enter Optoelectronic Information Industry for technology development, product design, manufacture technology and management. They also found job opportunities in high-tech companies and foreign investment companies such as Chinese Electronics Technology Group, China Aerospace Science and industry group, China Ordnance Group and the railway departments and other state-owned large enterprises and Huawei, ZTE, Beijing BOE, Shenzhen SKYWORTH, Beijing Fujitsu, Hamamatsu, Wuhan Optical Communication.
